Swivel – Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it and how we will communicate changes to you.


Swivel is neither a government not police organization. It is a private initiative. Swivel’s goal is to continually improve public safety, without compromising your privacy or civil liberties.

Privacy and Civil Liberties – The Swivel Mobile App

Privacy and Civil Liberty rights are enshrined in the Swivel application.  Swivel does not share any of your personal information unless compelled by a court order. Period! 


Personalized/Individual settings such as radius of notification and incident filters are stored on Swivel’s fortified servers.  

Swivel only collects and stores information that it requires to provide its services to users of its app. 

Swivel does use the user’s GPS location and third-party mapping services but does not store the individual user’s GPS history. To optimize the user’s experience Swivel does buffer notifications from the authorities for a 12-hour period. Individual addresses of interest are stored on Swivel’s fortified servers.

Communication via Swivel’s Public Website

When you contact us through the Swivel website form, we do keep your name, email and phone number and the particulars you share with us for direct communication with you.  This personal data is not correlated to your personal Swivel app on your mobile device.  We do not share your personal contact information with authorities or with any third parties such as advertisers.

Maintain & Improve Swivel

We may use the particulars of your communication with us to troubleshoot performance issues that you report to us.  Furthermore, we may use your information to improve Swivel and/or to develop new features.

Aggregated Data

We do collect and receive aggregated, non-personally identifiable information which helps us understand how our users interact with Swivel’s features, including advertisers and third-party advertising services.

Measure Performance

We use data for analytics and measurement to understand how many users are active within a community.

California Requirement

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requires specific disclosures for California residents. This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how Swivel handles your information.

We have explained the categories of information Swivel collects.  We have explained how Swivel uses the information and why Swivel collects this data.

We have explained when and why Swivel may share your information.  Swivel does not sell, lease or rent your personal information.

The CCPA also provides you the right to request information about how Swivel collects, uses, and discloses your personal information.  And it gives you the right to access your information and request that Swivel delete that information. Finally, the CCPA provides the right to not be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights.

You can request to update or delete your personal data by using the contact form located on the Swivel website. 

If you have questions or requests related to your rights under the CCPA, you (or your authorized agent) can contact Swivel by using the contact form located on the Swivel website.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Swivel may from time to time change the terms of this Privacy Policy.  Substantial changes will take effect 30 days after Swivel has posted a system message to users notifying them of changes to the Privacy Policy; and notification on Swivel’s website, explaining the changes to the Privacy Policy alongside a comparison of the “old” and “new” versions of the Privacy Policy.

Other changes will take effect 7 days after their initial posting on Swivel’s website. However, if Swivel amends this Privacy Policy to comply with legal requirements, the amendments will become effective immediately upon their initial posting, or as required.

You agree to be bound by any of the changes made in the terms of this Privacy Policy.  Continuing to use Swivel will indicate your acceptance of the amended terms. If you do not agree with any of the amended terms, you must avoid any further use of Swivel.
